we bought a front canopy for our monty 6 before xmas so we haven't had chance to use it yet. we are thinking of getting the side canopy as well before starting camping this year but i am a bit worried whether this will make the tent too big for regular pitches. Does anyone use both the canopies? If so do you find them useful, thanks Claire
We've used a side canopy on the Montana 12 which is much longer than the Montana 6. It doesn't add too much to the width really, but is very useful if the weather is bad. If you pitch front to back on your pitch, the side canopy allows you to use the side entrance and retain most of your privacy no matter what the weather.
thanks BrummyGit. We had a lot of rain in France last year and cooking was a bit of a problem. Whilst hoping for better weather this year i want to be prepared if it does pour all the time, Claire
The side canopy is better than the front canopy in bad weather because its sides come down lower, however it is only just big enough to cook under becuase it is not that long. That said, in wet weather it is a real bonus and ours has stood up to some pretty strong winds when pegged with Delta Ground Anchors.
We have both canopies (see pics in gallery) we have never had a problem on pitches, the side canopy is great in bad weather but have you seen the new extension, there is a thread on here about it!!!!
