Okay, we are looking for a tent that will be spacious enough for our family (2 adults, 6yr old and 3yr old). Our list of wants I think (!) are:
Pitch: fly first or all in one
Min of 3 bedrooms so stuff can be stored out the way
Porch? so we can cook in bad weather
SIG as I hate bugs particularly nasty spiders!
Good head room as hubbie 6ft.
I think that is all things I've considered so far. Would love some recommendations that fit the bill so we can go view them and know what to look out rather than trawling around loads! Budget probably £300.

Welcome Muggle (sounds like a line out of Harry Potter !),
I see the Vango Aspen being recommended, may I also recommend the Outwell Sun Valley 8 which also meets all your criteria.
I'd suggest taking a peek at say The Outdoor Megastore to get a feel for the types of tents out there and then drawing up a shortlist.

Then, try and see them in the flesh, as it were.
Cheers,
Pete.

A budget of £300 is fine, in fact you could easily find a bargain right now for under £200 which would meet your requirements.
As already said, have a look at various shop displays and get an idea of models you liked and did not like.
Ask afew questions on the ones you liked and you are sure to get some helpful comments.
There is also a thread on choosing a tent, which might help before looking at various displays: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=3&TopicID=94074&PagePosition=1
