First off, IMO, this tent does not suffer from not having a SIG (I have a Montana as well and appreciate the SIG in that), as a short stay tent it works just fine and has the advantage of a seporate inner, making it double skinned.

I have a tarp which is, from memory, 5x5m. The area of the whole tent is 4x4m, so the tarp fits and goes up the sides 0.5m on each side. The tent has little hooks on the inside, which keep the walls of the tarp upright - in efect, it becomes a bathtub or "riser" groundsheet.

I then sit the pole and the inner on top of it (the tarp covering the whole inner area). This means that you can not peg the pole down, but I have never needed to do this anyway. The tension of the tent, when taught, is sufficient to keep the pole in place.

It really is a fine tent.

note: The inside compartment is also cotton, with a rubber/synthethic base - no cheap nylon here!

And "yes" folks, there is just that one pole in the middle! (and a couple at the door frame to keep the entrance shape).

I think you would ahve no problem pitching the Noumea, which would be even easier that your QE Kyham. Putting the pole up is done without the tent under tension, so it is not hard and you do not have to be tall. Again, there is nothing to "pull-over" anything, so height is jsut not an issue.

However, I would think about the drying out - this will be a canvas tent and will need drying out, and am not sure would fit in your average lounge.

re: the drying off, do you have a hallway where you can hang a smallish tent down the side of the balcony?

You might want to look at something like the Outwell Arizona L, which is very similar to my Robens Valley Lodge. It is simple to pitch solo, a small size, light, but has standing height (my Roben's version is even lighter).

I suggest this, as it is also a tent you could erect indoors to dry out, in the average lounge or light enough to hang over a balcony to dry.
