Hi all

My sister has just been offered this tent, 1 double airbed, 2 single airbeds and a 2 ring stove for £130. Is this a fair price or what would you offer. All in good condition.

Well...it`s a bit on the high side. A used brand name second hand tent is normally about 50-60% of the full price, depending on condition. Ditto the stove. Does it have a gas bottle and regulator? Airbeds you can get for a few pounds out the supermarket...barely worth buying these second hand, unless they`re barely used quality ones.

If it were me, I`d check the condition of everything and if it`s all in working order, I would say about £100 max. It`s not a brand name tent, after all. You can buy an equivalent sized discontinued 2006 6-man brand name tent for about £130 at the moment, stoves for £30 without regulators and the airbeds from the supermarket for under £10 each.

I would agree with Val. The worry is that if you're buying second hand you need to know just what you're getting and what condition it is in.

Look..

Vango Oregon 600 or 800...£120 or £135

http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/VANGO_OREGON_TBS_TENT_RANGE_2006.html

CampingGaz double burner.. £17

http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/CAMPINGAZ_COKKERS.html

Two single (2 x £8) plus one double £12 Outwell airbeds

http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1428744-10475506?url=http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Outdoor_Megastore_Air_Beds_262.html

That`s £165-£180 for the same amount of new, branded kit, and the higher price includes a bigger, far superior Vango tent.

Yup, another one in agreement with Val. It's not a particularly desirable brand name tent, I got a Vango one that was similar in as new condition out of the local ads in the paper for £45. Airbeds, buy new as they are fickle beasts and not expensive and the stove is only worth a lot if it has the bottle and regulator and even then I'd only be paying about £20-30 for it. I'd be offering about £60-70 max.....but then I'm a tight cow!!!

I agree, too much S/H. Not worth the risk at that price.

It seems an easy option and relatively cheap but as Val pointed out if you browse you can get top brands new for not much more.

When you break it up and have a good shop you find that kit isn't very expensive new and the stove and airbeds really aren't worth buying s/h.

Good luck

Shirley x

Hi Katie72 and welcome to UKCS a most addictive site. Agree with Val here to £100 about right for that little lot.
