After last years camping the OH has insisted on "BETTER" lighting, We have been using a rechargeable flourescant lantern, but the OH wants something a bit brighter. We have got EHU.
We have a single energy saving bulb on a cable and three pin plug which we run off our EHU, it hangs from the central tie in the tent. I have put a small swith unit in line so that it can easily be turned on and off.
We have two types of lights , both of which are car mechanics lights , one is a flourescent type tube that hangs from a hook, the other is a single bulb held up by a spring loaded crocodile clip, and they are easily bright enough to read by.
We got ours from halfords , but i think camping specialists sell similar things.

The brighest light we've found is the Coleman Dual Fuel Dual mantle - it's so incredibly bright you could land planes using it!!
Go one futher and get the Coleman Northstar Dual Fuel - awsome light.

If you have EHU why not just take a table lamp from home, or buy just a cheap one, put a 60w bulb in it and job sorted. You could get 2 depending on how big your tent is, but remember to keep them away from the tent material.
We've got two bulb holders which clip onto a tent pole, or table leg. Energy saving bulbs are a good idea as they give off less heat for the amount of light you get.
