Had a good look at both, I think the vango for me and only because I think the lichfield might be a bit dark.

Its a close one.

Another vote for the Vango here.  Always good after-sales reports on here, if you should need them.

Hi Katie72 and may I welcome you to UKCS a most addictive website. Another vote for the Vango here. Saw the 800 at a couple of shops last year and a very nice, light tent it is. With the TBS system also provides a little more security in those windy conditions. Whatever tent you go for, hope you have a great year camping,

Hi Katie,

I think you ned to write down what you want from the tent and see which one comes up to what you want. Hydrostatic head (at least 2000), living space needs, what pitches first., price, etc.  I have never had either of these makes or a tent with a riser ground sheet so can't comment but i suppose it is a good idea in some cases, would help keep out draughts i expect. They both look similar and not much difference in price. Vango well known and do a wider range of tents for all seasons.  Lichfield the cheaper end of the market but still I believe decent for the mafority of camping needs. Sure there will be some one along who are experts in both makes before long, Nees to hurry though, camping season not far off now, yippee. May even start early iof weaather outlook is right.

You might want to keep your eye on this new Oregon 800 on ebay? (Complete Outdoors are a good company to deal with, too).

Good to hear your good reviews on the Oregon 800,as my friend is looking at that tent at the moment. It's very similar to our Gelert Alaska 8 which is a great tent!

Personally I think I'd go for the Vango for the extra space!!
