Hi,
Thought this'd be the place to ask these kinda questions, as i'm a little bit unschooled on the tent as it were. Looking for a budget tent (we're students :P) 2 person for under £60 preferably.
So what does the net savvy computer student do, check ebay. As it were i have no idea what is good or not. So i was wondering if anyone with expertise could point me in the right direction.
among others... require it for weekends mainly, hoping to try it out in wiltshire during early march, so something thats gonna hold up to weather etc etc.
hi newbi 1 and welcome to the site. personally most who reply to your questions will tell you to keep away from e bay tents untill you have a better knowledge of good brand names. regarding the weather during march you need a HH of at least 1500(hydro static head) this is the amount of water the fabric can stand.
Your best bet would be to go and have a good look round some camping shops, but im sure other will be along soon to give you more advise
The words ebay and bargain tent should never be used in the same sentence, unless its a reputable brand being sold by an individual. I would look on the websites of reputable Camping suppliers for an idea of what you want then try to see the tent in the flesh. Try this supplier
So if you guys had to choose one, bearing in mind i set sail a week today. Under £50. Which one would it be? call it a poll.
The Khaym tents on the outdooraction look good to for under £40. :)
I could look thru em all and they'd still be greek to me. If the HH is important than the sunnycamp one i mentioned has the highest number at that worldofcamping site.
You're going along better lines there. Both the above tents are from reputable makes Personally I would go for the sunncamp cause it's similar but cheaper than the vango gamma 350 rather than the 250 as there isn't much room to sleep 2 in the 250 unless you're sleeping on the floor, 120cm wide isn't very wide but I do notice that the price goes up quite a bit from one to the other but both are in your price range.
Yes the Sunncamp voyager is a good choice - the 3000mm rating means it will take some weather punishment and the poles are on the outside of the flysheet so it goes up outer first - always preferable for me as then your inner bedroom won't get wet. And World of Camping are a highly respected retailer with a very good reputation on here.
The point kate w makes above, about checking the bedroom dimensions is a very wise one too. You need to think about what you are going to sleep on - a double airbed is typically about 130 to 135cm wide so the Gamma 250 bedroom would not take a double airbed. If you are using foam mats or self inflating mats then they are only about 50cm wide for a single.
Cheers guys, i ordered the Sunncamp one and a few accessories :) less than i expected to spend. I just hope the weather holds its end of the bargain :)
