Hi

Came on to find out if anyone knows where I can get spare poles for the Coleman Sahara 4/5 (not the vis a vis).

Camped at October 1/2 term in Wales and have a couple of bent ones that I need to replace.

Have tried several dealers in the Midlands, Coleman website and other websites.

Anyone got any ideas - only one I had was to try to bend it back into shape - tried, but its steel and would weaken it even if I could do it.

Its a great tent and has stood up to many gales in the past, and I don't really want to replace it.

Many thanks

Kidsmadhouse

Hi there I have a coleman saharah 8.
I have had probs with the poles in the past one snapping and one bending .
Contact Coleman who are aware of this problem with the tents chances are they will sort new poles for you.

I think this tent is one of their worst nightmares...lol

worth ago, how old is yours? and where did you buy it from?

If they've not emptied it...in a skip in Malton Council Yard. That's where I dumped the poles and the rest of that great big pile of rubbish. Forget the thing...you'll only break / bend more poles if you attempt to resurrect it.

Which poles are bent?  Is it the "ridge" ones or the legs?

Most good camping shops will sort something out for you if you take the bent ones in.

We love our Sahara 4/5 - this model seems fine, ours has stood up to all sorts.

I've had the Sahara 4/5 and the vis-a-vis.  Had no problems with either of them and we had some very windy weather on Exmoor with the 4/5.

Hi All

Thanks for the replys.

Daisybev - had not contacted Coleman, just checked website - but have contacted them and waiting for a reply. I bought it in 2005 from Jacksons at Old Arley - I classed it as a good investment because of the name.

Safeway56 - pity the skip is not closer to me.

Fogey - its one of the ridge poles and one of the legs. They are really odd pole shapes and are set at a certain angle - but it is an idea I may consider.

Will24 - your Solihull shop is only 16 miles from me, so if I have no joy from Coleman I will get in touch - just as long as someone stops me buying an Outwell Minnesota they are really nice and the kids nagged me for the Montana all last year once they saw one. I'm like many people who can't set foot in a camping shop without bringing a new tent home.

Will post an update when I have some more news.

Many thanks

Kidsmadhouse

Hi, Here's an update

I've recieved a reply from Coleman. It includes phrases like

"Please may I respectfully advise you that Coleman UK take great pride in the products and services that it offers"

" The Coleman Sahara 4 tent suffered from very little fault or negative feedback. However as a very conscientious manufacturer, feedback such as yours enables us to contine to enhance our produces."

It then goes on to say about meeting the recognised standards etc. and they would like to "respectfully advise" me that they are a trade only company and to contact a company called Leisure Spares in North Yorks. - have yet to do so

They also attached some "helpful hints and tips for your perusal" - Sahara set up instructions - which look like they are for the Sahara without the SIGroundsheet. The reply to that is - yes I do know how to put up and pitch the tent.

So - not sure at the moment how I will proceed - but will post an update as it may prove useful to someone else in the future.

Hi

Update in Sahara poles. Whole tent went to tip last week. Sorry only read messages today otherwise you could have had poles. Sorry.

Gave up and bought and Montana 6.

Saw the new Sahara at the NEC today. Not as nice as mine was and poles looked out of same even though pitched inside?!? Material nice though.

Can wait to try out the monty at easter.

Sorry news is not better, but coleman just give the brush off and send you round in circles.
