Hi  We are hoping to do some touring this summer in Ireland, our present tent takes a while to erect and take down each time. So thinking of the Khyam Xl Classic and also the annex you can add on. Is this quite a good tent for stop overs for 1-2days here and there, and use the annex for those longer the stays. Is it quite quick to put up, how do they stand up to heavy rains and winds, how long does it take to put the annex up. Love to hear from any folk who have this tent or annex. Thanks

I am looking into buying one of these too, having seen a demo at the Caravan, Boat and Outdoor show last week.  Why does it take so long to peg it down? We have a Diablo 600 at the moment which we can pitch in 45 minutes. I was hoping that the Kyham would be much quicker than this? Can anyone enlighten me?

I can get our XXL classic up and guyed in about 45 - 60 minutes depending on type of ground and weather conditions, thats by myself. However I dont rush, and am normally drinking a fresh cup of coffee, and dont put all the guys out. I find that with any good stable tent you do not need to put all the guys in.

However I have not pitched yet with the annexe, so that will be fun when I try that for the first time

Thanks for your replies. We never used to be in much of a hurry, but these days we usually have a fraught toddler on our hands so being able to pitch more quickly would be great. Having said that being able to put it up single handed is a real bonus. :-)

Another question. Once the groundsheet is down, are there any gaps - i.e. any chance of unwanted visitors venturing into the tent at night and nibbling crumbs?

Would agree you can save a lot of time if you don't bother with all the minor guy lines, or pegging down all the internal flaps and groundsheets. For a quick weekend with a reasonable weather forecast I keep pegging to a minimum and can usually be in in about half an hour single-handed. When we're setting up for our main three week holiday I take much more time and care and can still be seen fiddling and adjusting 3 days later!!

thanks so much for you input to my post, only one last thing is does this XL classic fit back into the carry bag easy  when taken down, or do you have to jump up and down on it. Another point is what if it is wet, thetent  had to take it down in the rain, does it damage it in any way as it is attached to the poles.

Just to let you know, thanks for all your valued comments, Out new Khyam XL  classic and annex plus ground sheet etc should be arriving in the next day or so.
