I haven't been a major user of this forum until recently when we've decided to become more serious (!) about camping.

I was just wondering what the mods were thinking of this thread and about the retailers using the forum to do a bit of free advertising?

As a potential customer, within the next weeks if I can see the tents, I can absolutely state that that is indeed the difference! I've been looking around, asking some questions, got replies from fellow campers, and some from a retailer who wasn't pushing his sales pitch but responding to the question. Considering that retailer is within easy enough distance from me, I do seriously consider to give them that business....The friendliness, unbiased advice and openess about being a retailer works and can reap benefits when provided unconditionally....

That is the issue here though, don't you reckon? Supposing not all retailers give 'unbiased advice' on this forum, and what if their 'openness' is actually a sales pitch?

I've noticed lots more retailers are posting on here lately, and not all declare their interests.

What does anyone else think?

Hi Markos, agree with that but not for the retailers pushing the gear, shops, shows etc  and trying to out do each other and sell there stock. That is not what this forum is about. If they want to advertise there are means available through this website, as shown above (currently cycling click4tents as I type this post).
