We did have one, the Camping Club of Great Britain and Ireland, then they decided to admit caravanners and changed the name to the Camping and Caravanning Club. 

The reason I belong to the Camping and caravanning club is that it is a NON profit organisation set up for the benifit of the campers.  I find the caravanning club a much more corporate organisation that gives me the impression it is less inclusive. 

I do think though that these organisation do have to BOTH Make provsion for younger clientele... However I suspect the reality is that there is more possibility of making money out of caravans/and motorhomes then people in tents.  Have you not noticed how at camping shows there is less and less about tents and more about motorhomes in the £40,000 bracket which makes even caravans look cheap!

I went away 10 years ago, with my girlfriend, to a campsite in Paignton. It just happened to have a CC Rally on at the time. I couldnt afford a new Motorhome at the time, and had an old Mercedes 207D camper with an aftermarket conversion. We both felt quite intimidated with the stuck up attitude and snobbery of the CC members, with their 40 grand Caravans and Motorhomes. It was obvious we were being looked down upon, as if we were not worthy to be there.

It put me off the CC for life, even though i can now afford new vans, i dont want to associate with people like this. When i occasionally read the mags from CC and C&CC they still have a stuffy out of date attitude. They should be trying to attract younger people and those on a budget.

I'm in my second year of membership and what with their age concession discounts, the camping miles scheme and the site fee reductions for members, I don't think the "membership" actually costs me anything at all

I agree wit last posts....magazine is the most boring thing ever and the site book has the least inspiring pictures you could imagine. The sites however are very good and we have only ever met very helpful staff on them. Facilities can always be relied upon to be up to scratch and sites very clean and tidy.

Value for money for joining very much depends on how much camping you are going to do but both occasions I have joined I got the direct debit refund so worked out ok even though we didn't get away too often.
