Hiy guys! Just wanted some advice really. In the past when we have camped me and the little one sleep on airbeds (with blankets underneath and under sleeping bag etc) and manage o.k. Scott, my other half (reckoning hes dead tough) just roughs it on a camping mat on the floor. He hates Airbeds with a passion and cant sleep on them as he says they totally wreck his back. This year hes totally convinced that he needs a camping bed cos he will be off the floor away from drafts etc and it will be nice and firm for his back. Seen the Outwell camp beds and they look about the sturdiest ive come accross. Wondering if any of you have had this problem with airbeds and also what the general feeling is towards camp beds. I suppose its personal preference but its always good to get any advice/feedback!

We have just bought 2 of these after 2yrs on airbeds. They are great. Much more comfortable than the look. They were £25 each.

Cheers again. Will have a look tonight. They are alot cheaper than the Outwell ones and look quite sturdy too. I quite like the idea of camp beds cos they are up in seconds. Was just a bit concerned that they are quite bulky and it just adds to the endless amount of gear we already have to pack up with us. Definately quite tempting though!!

Your OH is right, I too have a bad back , and sleeping on a double air bed is not that comfortable.Even when pumped right up and several layers of blankets on top and underneath the cold and damp gets in to my back. Yet last year I went camping with my brother and family, slept on a camp bed, and it was the best night kip for a long time when camping.worth getting one to try can always have it for guests or kids sleep overs. Argos also sell the campbeds  like the Gelert type shown  for £19.99. You can also get those beds in different widths a wider one is much better, can also get Ex US army camp cots really strong these are.

we have had various campbeds over the years and got sick of going camping to find the beds have perished (or what ever the word is)and wont stay up next year after being stored over winter.   so we have bought the camp beds(same type as the gelert) and couldnt be happier we got ours  £19.99 each from argos i think the other "named" ones can be anything from £29.99 up.  Plus you havent got the hassle of blowing the beds up!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I might be interested in those! From a comfort point of view I am perfectly happy with our thermarests but like the idea of being able to shove bags and gubbins under a campbed. Will check the size of the t.rests at home tonight and let you know.

As I am as hard as nails myself they might be just the job. MT
