If it's one of last years... The answer would probably be 'leaky' I'm afraid...

This years version of the 'Nebraska' has still got new owners holding their breath, waiting for the first camping downpour of the new season...

P.S. Welcome to the website 'bluelewis' enjoy your stay...

Errect the tent and test it with a hose, if it leaks return it to the supplier, under the sale of goods act.Not all the tents leaked only some,if it is off ebay you may hit problems, but all is not lost, you can purchase seam sealer from most camping shops.

YOU WONT KNOW IF THERE IS A PROBLEM TILL YOU TEST IT!!!!

Hi guys well i just bought the new 2007 Nebraska XL about 3 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago we eventually erected it in the back garden done the hosepipe test and there were no leaks....................... left it out to dry off and then the bad weather came .................. the heavens opened and we had heavy rain, sleet, snow and hailstone and i have to say there were no leaks whatsoever and the tent withstood all of the gale force winds.

I was really nervous about it after reading the threads on here but i can definitely say that its a fab tent and you shouldnt have any problems, if you do take it back the dealer, but i'm sure you won't need to do that.

Its really easy to put up as well took my hubby about 40 minutes so obviously that time will be cut the more we get used to putting it up.

All in all its a fab tent.

Hope thats helped......................... so stop worrying everything will be fine

Hello and welcome to UKCs bluelewis. There were some leaking problems with SOME 2006 Outwell tents like the Nebraska. SO you do not know if you have got a problem until you test it. Get it up on the garden and use the hosepipe (or the forces of nature, if it rains!)

If it does leak you will find patches of water on the floor inside. If you are inside it whilst raining you should be able to spot where it is coming through on the seams.

If it leaks then take it back. If you have a problem with returns or refunds, then you can get silicon seam sealant, which works fine. I had a leaky 2003 Khyam which was cured perfectly using this.

The Nebraska is a great tent with a lot of nice features, I am sure you will have many happy times in it!

This is fine to an extent; but only when the seams, hanging points, guying points etc. have been subjected to the real pressure of camping in wind and heavy rain, will you actually find out if you have a leak problem (or not)...

If there is a problem you should be fine as Yeomans have a good reputation forn customer service. I'm picking my new Outwell Vermont XL from West Mids Camping on Thursday so you are in good company.

Do you know if you have a 2006 or 2007 model - 2007 added a thermometer and the velco guy rope tidy straps if that helps.

Unless there is faulty stitching, most leaks on a nylon or polyester tents are easily sealed with seam sealant.
My experience has been that leaks will develop as the tent ages and experiences bad weather. This is not a problem and should be seen as regular maintenance, just like putting oil in the car etc.
the reason that they leak is that the fabric does not absorb water, so the line of holes made by the sewing machine needs to be sealed. I once bought a Blacks tent that was not sealed at all from new and the salesman sold me a bottle of sealer with it and told me to seal it straight away!
This is where the old cotton tents were better because the cotton absorbed water and closed up any small holes.
