Feeling really chuffed - have just ordered a small medieval wedge tent for use when we are re-enacting (Wars of the Roses era). Thought we would have to wait several weeks for delivery, but we dropped really lucky and the very, very nice man from Past Tents said they have some in stock as they had just had a cancelled order (normal delivery time 8-12 weeks). It's being posted next Tuesday and should be delivered on Wednesday. So we will be able to authentic camp this season instad of skulking in the plastic camp area!!
Mind you we still love our Khyam XL and will be using that for all our non-reenacting camping expeditions as normal .
So two days you ago you had an itch and an unconvinced o/h,
"I'm itching to buy another tent!! What's different about that you may ask well the one I want is a medieval wedge tent for use when we are re-enacting (Wars of the Roses era), all I've got to do now is convince my OH "
and 48 hours later the tent is in the post and your o/h is, I guess, convinced! Excellent! MT
------------- Tackling life the Western District way
Nice one! I used to do 13th and 15th Century stuff with Knights in Battle a Sheffield group so years ago. Being able to camp in historic sites where they would not usually let anyone sink a tent peg is really rather special. I never got an authentic tent though, so I am really quite envious!
Really looking forward to using it now - I think we'll be able to participate in all the fun this year, rather than missing out somewhat because we were generally commuting every day.

Yes, the socialising around the campfire late into the night after the punters have gone home was defo the best bit.......I remember us all freaking out cos we thought we saw a ghost in the grounds of Richmond castle at 2am....turned out to be one of the chaps who had retired to bed, sneaking out for a p*ss, still wearing his long white shift!!!
Tent safely arrived today - now have got to work out how to put the flipping thing up, hope there's lots of peeps around to help on it's first outing which probably won't be until late July at Berkley Castle - can't wait!!
