Well done Lesley649 for doing your own thing.
I'm a solo plus dog caravanner when not going with groups of friends (sorry haven't got as far as Scotland yet, only Cumbria!), but don't have any qualms about solo trips. Generally find that the camping/caravanning fraternity are a pretty friendly bunch and my dog (pretty Border Collie) tends to start conversations with the neighbours for me as they all coo over her. Point being, campers are friendly, dog owners are friendly, you won't be totally isolated from company.
