So I take it you didn't wander round and explore the site then?
I think it will be next Easter before I'm down there again - I'd love to go back at the end of September but I can't really take any more holidays from work and it's too far to go just for a 2-day weekend. So maybe I'll see you sometime next year.

No, I didn't explore the whole site, only the touring site - just not the bit you were on I thought it was all permanent vans apart from where I was - that'll teach me to look around properly!
It certainly is a bit of a trek for a weekend I'm off to Bakewell for 2 nights on 15th Oct, but that's only 150 miles and it's far enough for me, for such a short stay.
Indeed, let me know when you come again and I'll make sure that I cover the WHOLE site, yelling "Where are you Tigermouse?"
Well next time I go down I'll put my UKCS sign in the front windscreen of my van - think I'll see if I can modify it to include my name in BIG letters! lol
The touring bit is an easy mistake to make I suppose if you're not aware of the site layout - the touring field where you were is for tents and motorhomes, where I was is for caravans and motorhomes. So motorhomes can go on either section, tents and caravans are on one or the other. Tbh, after all the times I've stayed there it was only last week I discovered another toilet and shower block - it's on the section where I was but behind the statics by the hedge which borders the lane. I've never been round there before, never had reason to, but I was walking the dogs over there late one night and saw the light so went for a nosey. It's surprising what you find when you're out with the dogs!

Hi Tigermouse, your'e in Bolton I was born there but left in 1960 and never went back, are there any campsites up in the hills you could recommend? I have an urge to go back and see what they did to the place when,t mills closed

I was down your way only the week before last on the way to Africa Alive, and made the mistake of going through Lowestoft instead of round it - I should have known better as I got caught in a long queue of traffic waiting for a boat to go through.
If you left here in 1960 you'll find it very much changed, in fact it's changing all the time. Which area did you live in? I lived in Halliwell all through my childhood and up to my mid 20s, since then I've lived in Astley Bridge.
Yes, avoid Lowestoft town centre, to get to Kessingland I have a level crossing and a bridge to cross. I lived in Great Lever and went to the Tech on Manchester rd learned my trade and moved to Dorset , work brought me up here and I hate it. Off to Cornwall (slowly) on Sunday touring for a month, might do Bolton next spring on my way to the Lakes
