Hi All

I am thinking about buying a caravan.  I was always a camper started at 3 weeks!  until I met Ex who hated it.

Any help advice would be appricated My kids are 1 &just 3 so I have my hands full that why thought caravan would be easier.

Would love to meet people in the same boat as me I am should I say it.....an essex girl.

Missing weekends away but dont want to be the odd one.

Go for it, the children will love it and so will you.  I don't have a caravan but take my kids away camping without OH as he's too busy working.  My bit of advice would be to go on a towing course and learn to handle a caravan properly from day one.  Have a great time.

Hi Dawnie - and belated welcome to the forum!

Don't worry about being a single mum, there are lots who camp without OH. I do - but I dont have kids - only dogs!!! There are lots of different types of meets, you will be welcome at them all.

Don't know much about caravaning as I use a tent, but Kate W's advise is sound.

I think you and the kids will have a great time.

Bye B

Dawnie, as another single mum let me reassure you - all the meets are great fun and this bunch are the friendliest crowd and so helpful. Once you've sorted yourself out summat to use then get yourself along to a meet or two - you'll soon be hooked.

Hi Terry,

I will be organising another meet next year, are you up for it? I know with the last one the dates were no good for you. I am thinking April/May time, how does this sound?

Hi Breeze, sounds good but I don't have a unit at the moment (had to sell the TT). I have a tent that hasn't been out of its bag for 5 years so I have no idea of its condition. Hopefully I'll be sorted by then and will be able to join you this time.

Hi Terry - join the club!! Dog destroyed mine August BH, was looking at a camper, but sticking with a tent. All I need now is the tent LOL

I will start a new thread early next year, not sure yet were to go, Naburn Lock was quite a nice site with good facilities, but not sure if I should try another site. I am open to suggestions if you know of any good ones which allow rallies.

Hi I am a single mum,

I'm sure there are a few of us out there, my 16 yr old daughter and I went out to see tents and motorhomes and came back with a a folding camper.  Didn't think they made things like that, as we have always had tents. Now we are looking for places to go and I, like some other single mums would love a meet, but don't know how to go about it, also I need to get some insurance for my camper and am not quite sure of who to go with. Can anyone help me.We live in Cheddar thats in Somerset.

Hope someone relies

Sue

Hi sappy

Well its down to being stuborn and proving that I can do it alone, my kids deserved a holiday and I had to make sure they got one.  How old are your sons and where are you going in the holidays, there is bound to be a man on the site that will help a damsel in trouble. We are going to Dawlish, thats not far from me, but its the first time I will be towing anything like this.I have or will have collected a folding camper on the 16 of this month, its a upgrade after the divorce, we lost our tent last ear at run to the sun, the weather was rotten.

Lets hope its better for the half term.

Sue

Hi Sue my boys are 6 and nearly 10 small for their age I think stubborness will be coming into  this lol, I really have the bug for camping and the boys love it, I do hope the weather will get a bit better went to The Inside Camp at Blandford Forum a few weeks ago a bargain at this time of year you don't pay for kids, that was freezing at night but now i have learnt my lesson going to hook up and try the halogen heater i have got and i have bought better sleeping bags, I towed a caravan a few years ago didn't get on with it the OH did it but now its down to just me and the kids and like you say they deserve breaks. lets cross our fingers for the weather.
