Hi there Billy

Thanks a million for the welcome, looking forward to hearing about how solo campers find it and really appreciate the words of wisdom.

This looks great. :-D   I'm still drying out kit from getting back from the very wet Lakes with friends, so don't think I'll have turned around in time for the meet this weekend.   But definitely will look to the Riverside meet and will see if I can wangle a Friday early finish from work to get it booked up.   Will check out walking and dog friendly stuff in the area also.

Cheers

Seetheworld  :-)

Hi seetheworld

i am a single mum with a 14 year old who has been on several meets with these nutters and also just me and son.  I have always felt safe and never really given it much thought.  The meets we have usually involve a walk and a visit to the nearest pub.  We have a couple of peeps who bring dogs with them and usually find that the kids make fuss over them and come in handy for dog walking.

the meets we have are highly addictive and you will wonder why you didnt join us sooner17

Hi Scooby44 and Happy Birthday Bruno's Mum!!!

Thanks loads for such good comments.  My pooch loves a fuss, and padding around after kids just to nosey see what they're up to.  The Riverside weekend sounds too good to resist  and a really good bunch of people  (? Nutters ??)  Maybe these first experiences of solo camping are going to be a baptism of fire?  As well as a good way to start, knowing that there are sensible, responsible and balanced campers close by.......

Will do a post if I get booked in.

Erm...excuse me....I'm sensible too you know  If you want nutters then the friend who's just been camping with me over the weekend really is one, she's driven me mad - I don't know how I've managed to stay sane!

Welcome to UKCS Seetheworld, I hope you can join us at Riverside, you'll have a great time if you do. I''ve actually just come back from your neck of the woods, been camping a few miles from Amble.

Hi to all single campers.

The Phoenix Camping Club is a national camping club whose meets are put on by members for the benefit of members all over the country. It does not matter if you camp in a tent, caravan or motor home you will be made most welcome. It is strictly a singles club for widowed, divorced, or single people who live and camp alone. Yes dogs are welcome. We are a friendly group and try to ensure that no one is left out of any activities that take place unless they want to be left on their own. You can find our more about us at www.thephoneixcampingclub.co.uk or email enquiries at thephoenixcampingclub.co.uk. Membership is only £12 per year and all members receive a bi monthy news letter telling them what is going on in the club and where the meets are.

Hi to all who have welcomed my posts into the solo camping world.  Thank you!!!

I'm afraid my car has decided to act up on me, :-(   so it's going into mechanics hospital Friday and I will not make the Riverside Meet as my first solo camp.  But this has given me the "ooomph" to give it a try and plan heading over to the Lakes first weekend in October instead.  Providing the weather forecast isn't too wet that is.

Hope you have the fantastic time that it sounds like it's going to be and will follow for the next dates in the North.

Aww, what a shame you can't make it - hope you manage to get the car fixed and you enjoy your solo camp in the Lakes.

Twas a great pity, and hope all had a great time at the Riverside Meet.  Is there a particular thread for any tales of the weekend......?

Weather forecasted for fairly dry in the Lakes, so heading there Friday afternoon and giving the solo venture a go with the pooch.   As a newbie fair weather camper, I guess it's going to feel a little too cold for any more before spring, but still going to be keeping an eye for new Northern trips planned.

Cheers

No there isn't really, just comments and photos posted on the original thread. Suffice to say that a good time was had by all one way or another, you missed a great meet.

This will give you an idea of how mad we are - because we missed having a summer meet, at the end of this month we are going back to Riverside for a beach party meet, complete with beach - I kid you not. Some form of beach wear is compulsory even if it's worn over thermals, waterproofs or whatever  I even heard on the grapevine that someone is bringing a limbo pole.

Now, because our beach party coincides with halloween we are now having our halloween meet next February - are you following this?? - and our Christmas meet will be next summer, probably June, complete with snowmen, decorations etc and Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody' blasting from our car stereos.

If you can ignore the fact that it's likely to be a bit chilly at the end of this month then you're more than welcome to join us - you could book a pitch with ehu so you can bring some form of heating, with plenty of layers to wear and warm bedding I'm sure you'll be fine. Have a look for the Northern Halloween Beach Party thread, and if you'd like to join us just let us know on there.

Wow!!!  Just seen the posts and pics from the Anniversary meet as well as the posts for the Halloween Beach Party - they look amazing  :-)  and totally good fun.  Understand the "nutters" titles now.  Ha Ha

I've already got a weekend booked for the last one in October, so I know I'll not be able to make it there then for sure, even if I did start stretching my bikini ready for it - so it looks like it might be the Christmas party in April, which sounds brilliant to look forward to and might be my first camp in 2013.....  What a way to start

Have a great one - daft statement I know....

Shame you can't make it, I'm sure you'd have a great time.
