Hi everyone.

Am looking for a camping buddy to go wild camping in the lakes for the odd night over the summer.

I tend to have sat and sun night free and hope to spend them taking in the sights of the lake district.

Anyone interested?

hi hawk. i would like to do a odd night in the lakes. but i don't have transport. however. i do have free travel on the train. not sure if my wife will come. as being on the ground. and wild camping .meaning no shower or proper toilets puts her right off i doubt it would cost much for the odd night. and i am thinking of doing some winter camping. after getting a decent tent that can cope with the cold.and snow. plus damp. i can borrow a regular tent ok. easy enough to get some equipment.cooker and pans. i got a kettle. good torch. sleeping bag.

maybe we can get something going here. i was going to another meet. but now i need a new freezer. mine has broke down. so £250 got to go on that. now i can't make that meet and i was looking forward to it. but at the back end of september i can start to get some camping done. so if either of you would like to do some rather later summer camping in the lakes. then that would be ok.  if not wild camping. then a nice camp site with a pub nearby. always a way to get things done. maybe a few others could join us.

hawk.. which part of the lakes do you have in mind. bearing in mind i don't have a car. so it needs to be on a bus route or train station in the local area. and bar as near as possible for getting a meal and a few beers

This actually sounds quite fun. What are the legalities around it?

hi hawk. i hope you had a good time in scarboro. as i said earlier. it will be late september. or even october before i can get a start. my fridge freezer is just about done now. and now. stupid shower needs replacing. jeez. but i have every intention of getting some camping done this year. rain hail and snow. i will go. my wife said that she will go to derby for a few days when i go camping.visit her cousin. as it will be just too cold for her. also the hard ground is not for her. i hope that we can sort something to get us all in a place at the same time. as i am retired. anytime is ok.just at the moment. all screwed up. but i will sort things. also we are not really that far from each other. or even from the lakes.

gazman. i think we can all arrange something to fit in with monday nights. but it is the time of year for me. due to sudden outlay of my spare money. as i said above. very late september or in october. and it will be a bit chilly. but if we can camp near a pub. in a camp site open all year. that would be ok. also. would you be will to do a the odd night in the winter. lots of warm clothing needed though.

Hi Superpup,

I feel your pain with the never ending stream of dying household appliances. Just had to get new cooker and fridge.    Just let me know when you're ready.

Hi Gazman

Monday night is a bit of a struggle as i work till 9pm. Sure we can sort something out though.

Hi Damian

Wild camping is awesome. Real feeling of escaping the rat race.

Hi Everyone,
Looks like this sunday (18th august) is going to be the night. Am hoping to get to the wasdale head inn by about 5pm. Sounds like a good meeting place. If the weather is fine we can head for the hills if not there is a nearby campsite and the pub sounds good. Either way should be fun!

hi everyone. well. not only is my freezer/fridge on the blink but the button has broke on cooker. but super glue should put that right. i hope you are all feeling ok. as i said earlier. gonna be late october before i get a chance to go. been looking at some pop ups. i think that will be my best bet. not hard to carry either. and hh is about 4000. i got a sleeping bag. and this huge zippable wool blanket the wife got  from charity shop.  should keep me warm enough,  it has been really windy here in gateshead. coming from the north west. clouds pasing over really fast.  hawk.. this wasdale inn. can i get to it by public transport. no doubt it will be a bus.if there is transport. i know most places can be got to ok. but in october. some of the bus services will be greatly reduced. and have you camped in penrith. i know there is a camp site very near the town. i was chatting to a guy in a bar beside the station. he had just bought a part for a camping stove, he said it was about 15 minutes walk and it was nice there. but i dont know if there is a lake there for ya kayak. and i can get to penrith ok. two trains and i am there. nice little town as well. well. the wife has just got up. and like all women. shoving her nose in to see what i am typing. ( the daft philipino ). ok. write again soon, bye for now

Superpup and camping hawk, thanks for the replies and sorry I am late in replying lol.

Still up for a wild camp and again on a Monday evening somewhere in the lakes, preferably north, would be good.

Cheers
