Loads of peeps camp in winter in their tin tents, as observed when I camped in my tent in Dec and Feb in the past.

C&CC has a list of their club sites that are opened all year round. Not sure if such a list exists for their CL sites, however, quite a few of them are working farms, therefore, I suspect some of them will be opened throughout the year too.

I tend to stay close to home when camping in winter, in case the weather turns foul. Also, it means I can pop back home to check up on the cat.

I prefer to cook when I go camping and seldom eat out. However, some sites that open throughout the year are within walking distances from pubs where there may be food and entertainment.

I do not look for sites with entertainment when I go camping, as I can usually find things to do to keep me and the dog amused.

I like camping in winter, as there will be less rowdiness, and hardly any bugs, and usually cheaper too except for C&CC as they consider Christmas and New Year as High Season! Hey ho, as my local site where I go for winter camping is a C&CC club site!

Try it and see.

I tried in Dec 09 and loved it, hence my next trip is in Dec 13 over Christmas.

We don't go over Christmas as I like to spend some time with my grandson. We do, however, take off on the day after boxing day for a few days. We used to go to a holiday camp when my daughter was young but now prefer a few days peace and quiet after the busy days (weeks!) leading up to Christmas. Our van is already on the pitch so we don't have to tow it - just put up a porch awning for wet shoes, coats etc.

We also live in Lancaster, on th ridge, and have a motor home. We use this all year round and often go with a load of like minded motorhomers, caravanners and tenters, and have some really great times.
