Hello there I've just taken the plunge and ordered myself a big tent and camping equipment as I always dreamt of camping with my little one. I want to meet other single mums and dads who might want to meet up for some camping in a more natural environment/campsite close to London with their little ones. Im nervous to go it alone as I've never been camping alone - let alone with a toddler. Anyone out there who might fancy meeting up over the summer?? I know there are some single parent camping websites but it is all pretty organised and I'd prefer a bit more of an adventure!

Sounds absolutely fab; I camp alone with my teenage son in our VW camper van; unfortunately we're North Yorkshire based so a bit far for a weekend!

Hey Minnie, I'm just in the process of ordering all the bits and bobs and like you are a single parent. My daughters 6 so probably a slightly easier age though. I'm only in Essex so would definitely be interested in trying to arrange something with you as we're both in the same boat 😊

Hi there Zoe
I've just returned from an 11 day camping trip in Wales and Im so glad I went for it! My little boy loved it and two friends, without kids, joined us so I also had some company and help.
Are you going this year? I probably won't camp again now until next summer as I start teaching again next week.
Where are you planning to go?
Next summer I'm going to plan a trip to France with other parents, some single mums too if possible, would you like to be kept informed about that?

oh yes I was hoping to eventually brave it to france! I don't think ill make it out this year but im planning on getting all the bits a bobs gradually over the next few months so ill be all set.

I haven't decided where is best as a first outing, a little nervous about getting the tent up haha.

Which tent did you go for? x

I went for a 10T desert 10, which I ordered on a special offedr from Germany. I will post some photos when i get a moment as it was such a great tent. I was going to go for the 8 person tent http://www.amazon.co.uk/10T-Desert-person-cotton-pyramid/dp/B002FX1PCC but theyd sold out and im so glad i went for the 10 person in the end, it's like a bell tent but much cheaper and really east to put up and down but very heavy!!

Yes Bob i will it was at a friend's reserve which isn't open to the public yet as not quite ready but ill email her and check when it's ready from as its really fab there!

That's great to hear as ive just ordered a 4M bell tent from canvas camp in Belgium.

Did you go for an inner sleeping area as I really cant make my mind up.

Cant wait too see some pics :)

that sounds lovely, my tent is a canvas and polyester mix without an inner sleeping area, i liked the spaciousness of it.
will get some pics up as soon as ive unpacked all the kit!!

How was the little one sleeping wise? I'm looking at sleeping bits and bobs now and it seems most people go for an air mattress so just wondered how children seem to get on with that x
