Hi everyone
I'm raring to get back to camping and have all my kit gathered but just a little daunted at the aspect of doing it on my own,
Does anyone have any ideas of groups I could meet up with or maybe any other suggestions?
I like the idea of less commercial sites, in fact the quieter the better, but I think it'd be nice to meet up with a group.
Having seen a few solo camper posts gone without replies I'm a little apprehensive but I'm up for giving it a go.
Looking forward to all your replies.
I'd try a weekend camp or two within striking distance of home, and at a site with quite highly developed facilities: not necessarily commercial, but so you can deal with broken equipment / forgotten stuff without having to go searching. You'll get your confidence up in no time & be off adventuring.
There is nothing to stop a solo camper in joining an organised camping event, and Camping and Caravanning Club is a good place to look for such events.
I prefer to spend time on my own with just the dog for company, and do as I please whenever it pleases me.
Hence I seldom participate in group events.

I've camped in most if not all forms over the last 30+ years, Tents, campervans and caravans. The last 15 years was campervans and I camped both solo and in groups and with friends. Now I'm back to a tent.
I think I'm just trying to find a way back in to camping without feeling like billy no mates lol.
I've done the organised C+CC meets etc. However I like the idea of quieter sites, possibly tent only so I'm now wondering if what I really need is just a handful of like minded camping buddies?
hi Simba, I see you`re from the West Mids, like camping and cycling and looking for like minded companions. I don`t want to high=jack your blog but how about an appeal for like minded people from this area stating their interest. I enjoy bike-camping car-camping and have in the past gone at very short notice. Great to get away but nice to share the experience at times as well. I`ve enjoyed the Black Mountains and carsington water near Ashbourne in particular. So my names down for a start. Good Luck
Im probally going to the north norfolk coast around Wells next the sea or Blakeney ive found a couple of sites that are on the hopper bus route
scaldbeck cottage is looking favorite at the moment
Hi All,
So there's lots of us single campers around, how about trying to set up a meeting in the spring so we can maybe meet and have some company, i for one can and do camp on my own, but it's gotta be more fun as a group, any ideas ?
I have camped solo for years and whilst it is nice to have company occasionally I have tried the 'meets' thing and didn't seem to fit in too well. I suppose I am not much into crowds of people but 2 or 3 is ok.
I also have camped on my own with dog. Sometimes female friend comes with me, but quite honestly I prefer to be on my own. Used to be in a tent but have progressed to a folding camper. It would be nice to meet up with some other solos, even if just for a stroll to the pub of an evening.
