Hello Amanda,
Welcome to the site.
I can't give you any help regarding specific sites, but would suggest you use the campsite search facility available here.
If you use option 2 you can search using the map for the area you want and read the excellent reviews left by contributors to this forum which may give you some ideas.
I can not see an option to select "suitable for solo campers", but I suppose this is a subjective judgement.
I have camped on my own for many years all over Europe and have had no major issues.
Good luck, and just go for it!

I've been a solo female camper for seven years now and love it. I've stayed at many different sites in that time, some have become my favourites and I return to those regularly. I suppose it depends what you mean by 'suitable for solo camper' - I've never come across any sites advertising themselves as such but I can recommend a couple of nice ones in roughly the area you're thinking of.
Serenity at Hinderwell, seven miles north of Whitby, has a 'peaceful camping policy' so is nice and quiet and has nice countryside views, and Centenary Way at Filey, is a well-kept site with spacious pitches - I've stayed there more than once and loved it, and as a solo camper I've never had any issues with either site.

While being suitable for solo campers is subjective, there are sites that do not allow solo campers.
There was a report some time ago about a widow who had used a site for years with her husband, he died and she carried on alone, but was refused entry to a site they had used together as it had a no single campers rule.
Lots if sites state families and couples only.

I read that post online too, Woodman, and it is something I would not have thought to check on. Felt very sorry for the lady, not easy taking those first 'lone' steps.
