Hello
We have a five year old Coachman Wanderer which has just been found has damp issues in a wardrobe and near the shower (which incidentally we never use !).
Has anyone any experience good or bad of water ingress warranty claims with Coachman ?
Perhaps I'm being pessimistic because I anticipate it not being straightforward particularly as for the last 2 years the annual service has been carried ou by an approve caravan engineer and not one of Coachman's dealers .
Any comments welcome .
Thanks

Firstly, you don't say how long the warranty is valid for. If it's five years which it probably is then you need to look at the purchase date to see if the warranty has expired or not. If it has then you as the owner would be responsible for the repair but if the warranty is still active then you need to contact the dealer you purchased the Coachman caravan from as the sale agreement is with the dealer and not the manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply .There is a 10 year water ingress warranty .Ihave contacted the dealer and obviously been asked to supply details of the annual services .
Unfortunately on issues like this I am a pessimist but I’ll follow the procedure and keep posting progress .

As you have a Coachman 10 year water ingress warranty then you have the law on your side and should be granted to have the repair undertaken without any problems. Even if the service record confirms that the annual service was conducted by an approved caravan engineer I would think it extremely difficult for the dealer to escape the responsibility of dealing with the repair required. However, quite often it can all depend on the dealer as some are classified as customer friendly and assist appropriately within the consumer rights whereas other are not and feel it their right to get involved in a legal dispute hoping that the customer will eventually give up the fight.
Before offering any advice on consumer rights you need to approach the caravan dealer first to see what their response is and then re-post with the outcome with reference to the decision of the dealer's actions.

Did it go well? We have damp in our Coachman repair has been authorised, but the dealer is closing at the end of this month, plus they have told me that they don't yet have all the parts, which seems unlikely. Awaiting a reply from Coachman.

Nothing to do with Coachman. The dealership would be responsible as your contract is with the dealer and not Coachman.

We have just had a damp repair done under warranty. When we asked for the paperwork we were told "it's all covered by Coachman" really? How can we prove it's been done?

I was told exactly the same thing after our repair last week . Not had an opportunity to check to check if it is ok using a damp meter but will be doing . Also I guess you are relying on the integrity of the dealer .

Interesting. The car dealership I used when my car was nearly new would send me video footage of the problem before & after. The local independent doesn’t, but they do keep the old part(s) me to see.

-------------
2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

Should add that it was not done by the dealer as it has closed. It was hard to find a workshop who would do it. We are now away in the caravan having picked it up yesterday and have a damp meter. Will have to contact Coachman as surely we need to prove that the repair has been done?

That's a thing that a good dealer does as they feel it's good customer service.
Never known an independent locally that offer this service.
