Hi there, we are currently dealing with damp in the rear of our van.  We have started to strip it and repair.  But as we have it in the toilet we just can't see how to get the cassette toilet out.  We have the old manual but it doesn't describe how to install or remove.  Its literaly sitting there stuck to the floor, any help appreciated, don't want to start undoing all the little screws in case we don't need to.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Rappy, The toilet is screwed to the floor through the bottom of the cassette apeture, remove the cassette and you will see four screws, remove these, cut round any silicone sealant on the inside, then you need to lift the toilet straight up to lift off a bracket that should be fastened to the rear wall.

Hi I had the same problem, mine has the manual flush, but should be the same.Remove the brackets at back of the toilet at the top (which I imagine you have).then remove the actual cassette from the side door.As you look in at the bottom you can,t see anything but two square holes on the bottom if you get a small mirror you can see two screws in each square fixing it to the caravan floor( they will probably be tight). If like mine (Sprite Alpine)once it is loose I had to suspend the toilet from above with heavy cord as the room seemed to have been built round the actual toillet and I couldn,t get it out.  Good Luck

Hi Marky and welcome to the forum. It may have been better to start a new topic rather than attach it to one nearly resolved.

That being said, have you used the toilet this year? That model had a habit of water trapped in the pump freezing and splitting the pump body, (I have the same one). Thetford issued a free modification but some may not have been done. It is an extra drain hose and fits on the pump base in place of the clear plastic u-tube there originally.

The pump itself is located by removing the cassette and looking up the right-hand side near the wall. It will be blue plastic if original and fixed in with an in-built clip to the frame.

In that case you you have no previous knowledge but a quick check will let you know if the mod has been done. There may well be another reason for the flood but to my mind you need to check it out anyway. The original plumbing had a reinforced clear tube fitted at the base of the pump, it's the fact that water gets trapped in this u-shaped tube and freezes in winter, and then breaking the pump housing that was the reason for the drain mod. See this link, they are selling one here but it will give you an idea what you're looking for.
