I have just purchased a 2017 Lunar Quasar 462. The LED lights surrounding the centre roof light and two front corner lights come on when the control panel is powered up. Is there an individual switch to turn off these lights. At the moment, I can only turn them off by turning off the control panel which closes everything else down.

I don't know that caravan but surely there must be a switch somewhere. Maybe there is an individual switch on the lights themselves or possibly one just inside the entrance door. You certainly shouldn't have to turn off the main control panel.

Thanks Colin, my thoughts exactly. I have looked and there are no individual switches on each light and nothing near the entrance. I'll have to keep digging around.

Thanks again Colin

Cheers

No problem Geoff, let us know how you get on. I'm sure there must be a switch around somewhere, and you'll find it.

Read on practical caravan of person with a 2017 lunar with the same problem. Said two rocker switches on panel should work the lights but his now have started staying on permanent unless panel is switched off.So he is presuming either the switches have gone faulty but unlikely both of them or the circuitry has a fault which he has not found. Originally one of them started blowing fuse.

The other alternative is that a previous owner may have fitted an additional switch or modified the witing so look in other locations to the control panel.

I've got a 2016 Lunar Quasar 524 (well a dealer special version, maybe with extra lights I believe!) which should be similar. Now I'm working from memory here, and van is 45mins away in storage, so NOT going to check it any time soon! TBH I don't think hard about which switch does what any more when in the van, it's all become instinctive after 6 years!

The central 'hidden' LED lights around the skylight, and a couple of roof mounted lights are controlled by a touch switch on the control panel over the door, now this is an electronic switch so may well have gone faulty and locked in the 'on state'! Under the overhead lockers at the kitchen end are two rocker switches that control downlighters on the face of the overhead lockers, and some of the hidden LED lights around the window frames. On the offside, again under overhead lockers, are rocker switches which control various other lights.

Now some of my lights didn't work when I got the van, and I had to tinker to get them going (reverse polarity on one LED lamp!), BUT the 'logic' of what switch controls what seems a bit peculiar, so I'm not convinced that all the lights are as originally wired at the factory, I fear some ignoramus has messed with them, or maybe Lunar just had strange ideas!!!! The movable spotlights are mostly just controlled by their own rocker switches on the lamp itself, with the exception of one which requires a separate rocker and other lights to be on before it will function (that's the illogical one!).

I've got all the documentation that should be with the van, and I've never found any description of where light switches are or what function they perform! - it was total trial and error of trying each one I found to see what it did, and I didn't see all the switches at first, 'discovered' others after a little time! The rockers under the overhead lockers are pretty much out of sight, so not obvious!

Not sure, you'll have this on a base Quasar, but if you've got a large split button rocker switch at the end of the kitchen, one half does the kitchen worktop and cabinet lights, the other does the external 'service light' above the battery locker on the offside of van - took me some time to work that one out!

Good luck.

Hi Geoffrey,
We bought the same model on 7/2/24 and had the same problem but eventually found the sneaky wee switch!
Looking at the four little directional spotlights, two front, two rear, the switch is next to the rear light on the left hand side, next to the light fitting. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone

Thanks for all the helpful advice. At last, got it. Found the switch as suggested - hidden from view. Needed to almost dislocate my neck to find it as totally hidden from view.

Thanks again for all the sympathetic and positive responses. Not like most sites where the standard response seems to be quite sarcastic.

Thanks again everyone

Geoffrey Samuels, pleased your sorted, might be a good idea to say where you found it as someone else may have the same problem in the future
