I've been looking for the best sealant for caravan and folding camper repairs with most recommending Sikaflex however I have read that Adiseal is the best what are people's thoughts on what to use as a permanent repair?
Sikaflex is what I use and it usually does a good job. I used to use it o my boat too. I have never heard of Adiseal, so I can't really comment on that one.
Depends on what and where the sealer is being used ..If it's on aluminium trim on an aluminium bodied caravan I've used hodgsons sealer a bitumastic that tolerates expansion and movement.it doesn't set solid but remains semi rigid.Ive removed all my aluminium rails and resealed them with hodgsons or caraflex I'd 99 sealer,,,Gary
Its on the front of a folding camper the sealant has gone and is letting in water if towing in wet weather, there is like a fibreglass frontage and it is the sealant between the fibreglass frontage and the plywood wall which has some sort of vinyl covering hope this makes sense will try and post a picture.
The front of my caravan is glass fiber and the back panel is abs the sides being painted aluminium..The caraflex sealer is/was made in Hull which is where a lot of caravans where and still are..it may be an idea to make sure the plywood is totally dry before applying a sealer though... I've posted a couple of images ..the old sealant I removed was the same I replaced it's like super sticky chewing gum.. Gary ...hope all goes well..
