Hi mate , to fix it in place use either Sikaflex 512 caravan sealant or Evo Grip non solvent ( fairly cheap to buy and sticks well ) , when you replace the awning rail the screws will go thro it as well . To make it use thick plywood and cut to shape .

Looking good..... halfway started or halfway finished?  Depends on your perspective.  Take your time, don't let it get you down, and just think you will be an expert on awning rails too by the time this is done!

Good luck

Hi

How did you manage to get the thetford toilet out ? I had problems with damp in the camper van ( luckily I was able to leave the toilet in place ) When I started the job I tried to take the thetford out and gave up.I removed the sillicon and any other bits I could find but the bleeding thing seemed to be welded to the floor, how did you manage it ?

       regards SF

After removing all the silicon,it was a case of lifting the toilet straight up as its on a bracket similar to the setup on house radiators,if that makes sense? Took a good tug to lift it up i can tell ya,all my timber that the toilet fastens to was rotten so had to totally rebuild it from scratch, looks pretty good if i may say so myself

I can imagine the amount of lift required,I checked mine time after time thinking I'd missed some screws, luckily in the end I didn't have to remove it.I just hope it stays as solid when we come to use it

Excellent repair job Campingbiker!

Welcome and congratulations on becomming a member of the 'Fixed it' club!

One thing about fixing things yourself, you know the job is done well. A workshop technician (not being his own van) would not take as much care I feel.
