Very often, the multi-point EHU's on a pillar are in turn protected by an MCB of sufficiently large capacity to supply all the points on the pillar. It is possible that the main MCB was either too low amperage, or was itself faulty.  I have occasionally come acros mcb's that trip below their rated amperage.

Many many thanks for all your replies. The site was Crystal Palace and we have just had a further six days there without incident. The pillar in question was totally out of use so obviously it had been at fault for whatever reason. A notice had been placed in the toilet asking people to watch their electrical consumption as the site was experiencing difficulties. Our van got an electrical all clear. I'm a bit annoyed as we had been falsely and repeatedly aggressively accused, wasted money on gas, lost a family easter sunday and then had to get the van back and forth to the dealer for checks. In fairness, hubby had got very irate after three days of being told off, but he  did have the courtesy to apologise for not having remained calm. From the warden in question, no apology, he wouldn't even look at us, and he had completely lost it. Have to say though, this is the first time we have ever experienced adverse relations with CC wardens, plus the first time we have ever been thrown off any site. Bring back the old wardens!

We had the same problem Easter weekend.  We arrived on the Friday and had no problems (apart from the snow!!) then on the Saturday when the site got really busy the electricity started tripping.  They also tried to blame our caravan but told us it was only showing output of 10amps and we said it shouldn't be a problem as it was a 16amp site.  On the Sunday night kids woke up frozen and the electricity tripped at 11.30pm approx and then didn't come back on until 8am, we had to use our gas heater but it eventually ran out at 7am.  We were supposed to stay there the rest of the week but cancelled, packed up and went to Berwick for the remainder of the week where we had no issues running on a 10amp fuse all week.  They also just had the site re-wired, which sounds like a bit of a coincidence!  We asked for a refund due to all the problems but were told they wouldn't refund and the fact that it was supposedly our fault!

We don't mind naming and shaming the site was Blair Castle in Blair Atholl, Scotland.

I think you should be contacting the CC and letting them know what happened, i would have blown my top if any site owners asked me to leave for what sounds like a faulty supply, i would also ask for the cost of checking your van to be paid by them and what compansation you are entitled to.

My thoughts exactly , you should follow this up , before the warden has a pop at someone else .
