Cheap as chips 16v  superstore drill works fine, when i am winding my steadies down or up i set the torque at maximum when it starts moving set clutch (torque) couple of numbers less before steadies are on the ground or under caravan  this leaves you with a bit of torque on the way up or down to get steadies moving

I've had two cheap 18v drills, one from Homebase another from Woolworths, neither batteries lasted more than 18 months, you get what you pay for.

I've now bought a Dewalt 18v, (I do use it for DIY as well as the corner steadies!)

My cheap drill is well over 5yrs old & was used by a joiner who gave it to me when he upgraded & i have been using the drill at least 14 mths you cant get much cheaper than that LOL

Does everyone apart from me use a drill to raise/lower the corner steadies?   Why?

18v and it's also great for screw pegs for the awning.

Anything to make life easier!!

Working on the assumption that a 12v motor mover will turn the wheels to drive a caravan up a slope of 12%, I don't see why anything more than 12v is needed for a drill to wind up the steadies.

Its not the voltage that counts, its the wattage, i.e. volts x amps. Also depends on the gearing in the system.

Who needs a drill to wind up the steadies, I have the OH. lol
