Could you not get a roll end of carpet as Michael suggested but cut it as a loose fit and then get the edges bound. Easily removed and replaced whenever necasary. You could get it done in 2 pieces so as its not as big and awkward to handle.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I have carpet at the front part of my van and vinyl self adhesive tiles at kitchen and entrance area, separated by a brass door strip.Well handy when its wet and muddy outside,You take boots off on the vinyl and is easily wiped clean with a cloth.Saves a lot of rows !!! lol Carpet from Carpet Right and vinyl tiles from BQ. 65 quid in total.I put the tiles down and my dad did the carpet another day, well pleased !!!!......... sue...........
We went to our local carpet shop and priced up vinyl flooring they estimated about £100 for floor and fitting, said they had a man who especially did caravns so think we might go down that route, we also have the loose carpets so if we wanted we could put that down too, Dont know when it will get done still waiting to repair delaminated floor (will we ever get away this year?)
we've just bought today and i hate other peoples carpet plus it was mingin(technical term) we had offf cuts from last oct carpet fitting in the hse flopped over old carpet for added warmth bit of cut n paste and i'm happy, how long wheat beige will last shud be intersting hehehe. we shuv shoes in a box with lid under van BEFORE we step in just like at home.
