You may very well be right Tentz and Gary. In the case of the OP we are not talking about a caravan service, with new tyres as an extra during that service. My suggestion was merely that they ask their caravan dealer to get them the right tyres for that van. Don't just ask for a tyre, ask for the right one, discuss the range. Yes they can ask their local tyre shop, but even then, in my experience, you get offered three standards....budget, mid range and top of the range and you take your choice. I agree with Tentz ..ignore the budget range.
Before anyone gets a tad concerned about manufacturers only fitting tyres that can just manage the weight of the van, its worth noting that Quick Fit, National Tyres, caravan dealers et al, who supply your tyres, are all regulated by The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 and the Road Traffic Act 1988.
It is a criminal offence under s 75 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 to undertake a service of a carvan e.g fit new tyres, and to leave it in an unroadworthy condition punishable by a fine of up to £2000. It would be unroadworth if the tyres did not comply with the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. Reg 25 of those regulations require that tyres must be designed and manufactured adequately to support the maximum permitted axle weight for the axle and for the maximum speed that the trailer shall travel. The walls of the tyre must specify that information. Check the information on the walls before you pay. So tyres must not be "just" able to carry the weight they must adequately carry the weight, with some comfort margin.
I think that the truth is that tyre specs are banded to include that margin. That would make them "adequately" provide support for the weight. Certainly the ones that came with my van have a greater load bearing and speed than I actually require. (or would be happy to tow at!!!)
The van can only take so much weight (MTPLM) so if you do carry greater weight than it can manage, but which your tyres can take, that's the drivers fault. If you carry too much weight than the max load of the tyre that's the drivers fault. Operation of the tyre is down to the driver and not supplier of the tyre.
So when you are asking for the right tyre for your van, ask about its load bearing abilities, don't just think about the price.
If you are just taking the wheels round to Quick Fit you must tell them the relevant technical spec of your van so that they know just what the tyres are to be fitted on to and their purpose.
