As a panel beater i would recomened before you start hauling out wind screens etc,is to go over the full car with a hose just turned on enough to flow slow.Get someone to go inside the car and lift back the carpet as far as you can.Run the hose slowly over the bottom of the windscreen first then, lift the bonnet and run the water down the drainage channels, not forgetting the wing.If no joy there check any wiring looms that enter inside ie the grommits.Make sure there is no leaves that are jamming the drain channels.Continue to the door running the hose round the gaps watching all the time to see if water comes in not forgetting the windows.Last but not least, take the wheel off and turn the hose on fast and lie under the car looking for where the floor pan joins the bulkhead...sometimes the wheel kicks up water and if the join has lost sealer the water can enter. The trick is to start at the bottom of a gap/panel
and for a friend to tell you when the water comes in after youve covered a section...hope this helps.

I was just going to say that. Check the engine coolant levels. I had a car get wet in the footwells once & it was a heater matrix that had gone.
Mind you, many of the old tanks I've owned have leaked, but you don't expect it in such a modern car.
Do they still put drain holes in the bottoms of car doors? These can get blocked as well, & coupled with the doorcard membrane seal theory would not help matters.
I'd have expected the water to be coloured if it was the heater matrix as the coolant is green with antifreee but the water in the footwell & the carpet is crystal clear. I'll have to have a good look over it this weekend to try & identify the problem.
It never rains but it pours here though, my daughters exhaust went today so I had to go nd get that put right, our main car broke down earlier today & had to be recovered to the garage & to cap it all, the radio in the mondeo has started turning itself on even when the ignition key is not in the car.
I doubt it is the heater matrix, it's just one of those things that it can be.
Sounds more like a door seal problem to me.
Funny, I've got the same trouble with the boot on my BMW, it's soaking in there, but it is 28 years old, so probably to be expected. BMW want over £65 for a new boot seal though, so it'll just have to carry on being wet for now.

I give up :-(

The radio in my mondeo does that and has done ever since I bought it as a 10 month old car. Ford even replaced the radio under warranty but it still carried on and since there were no fault codes they would not look any further. It does not seem to do any harm yhough so I just ignore it. However if you find a solution I would be very grateful.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Many years ago I had a Sierra and the rear nearside footwell kept filling with water
Tried everything I could think of with no avail. Eventually, in frustration, I grabbed a drill and drilled three or four 10mm holes in the floorpan. The water drained away, I had no more bother and ran the car for another four years or more.
Not a cure but a solution. I wouldn't really recommend it for todays cars though.
PS If you are tempted, use a battery drill, it tends to keep you alive longer than the mains powered drills in the wet!
It'll be the foam membrane behind the door trim. It's a VERY common issue with that shape of Mondeo. Had it myself on the drivers side back door on my estate....

if your coolant is green you have the wrong coolant in your car......
It should be red (or orange if it's Ford's latest stuff). It's very important to use the correct fluids in modern vehicles.

My ex wifes Seat Leon had the same problem, foam seal had gone on both doors. Common fault on Seat and VWs.
Took trim panel off door and removed the bolts from the steel panel.
Prised the bottom of steel panel away from the door.
Then ran a seam of Silicon all round the edge of steel panel and in bolt holes.
Re-fitted bolts and door trim panel, job done.
No problem since.
The Pollen filter also leaked due to the garage not fitting the rubber seal correctly.
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem but on drivers side, after checking that non of the drain holes were full of rubbish i moved onto the window seals, now even though the front drivers was wet i found that the seal on the rear window was hard and had pulled away, i poured water against it and it ran down the inside of the door, dropping onto the floor just behind the drivers seat and moved down to the front footwell. So i took the old seal of (just pull but be gentle) boiled a kettle and left it to soak for a while, then put back on the car and its moulded it self back perfect.
Mine was the cabin/pollen filter took. Car to ford for big service leaked for ages they swore wasn't them it was the seal across the lastic to the screen and also the bridged way they had shoved the filter in!!! Took a decent none dealer 10 minutes a new filter to put right and never leaked again
