Take it back and get your money back.If he was prepared to sell you the van he cannot be trusted to repair it properly. If he does a repair, how long is your warranty, and if more damp appears after some months your chances of getting a refund or even selling it will be slim.
I would just like to thank everyone for their advice on our 'Damp Caravan From Dealer' problem and I thought I had better update you on what is happening.
We took the caravan back to the dealer and they were extremely apologetic and they immediately offered us a full refund or a repair with a 2 year warranty.
As I mentioned before we really like the van and apart from this problem it is in excellent condition, so we have decided to get it repaired and take the 2 year warranty. They said we can go and see the van at any time and inspect the damage / repair.
We have now seen the van stripped down and it seems the damage was not as bad as we first thought. They are now replacing the damaged wood aroundthe windows and are drying out the van for a few weeks.
Ah well good outcome then. As the dealer appears to be doing a proper repair you are probably better doing this than getting your money back to buy another possibly damp caravan.
