when marks or stain go deep a mild abrasive is the only sensible way to remove them.. the top layer of paint needs to be removed to remove the stain.. simple as that.. :)

wisely used a mild abrasive can save much rubbing and effort.. but ultimately everything is abrasive to some degree.. using the right tool for the job simply makes the job easier..

the cleaner itself can be abrasive or the thing you apply it with.. it makes very little difference to the end result..

If you use any sort of abrasive on your van you will take off the lacquered shine and it will never look the same again..

Looks like you're in the minority with this one Trog, but by all means you carry on with Vim and a pot scourer.
Simple as that he he.

dont be stupid and insulting blueepo97.. i have refinished many a car in my life time.. mild abrasives are all part of the game..

one does need to know how to use them though.. i do happen to know how.. but who cares.. get rid of stubborn marks however you like.. he he

all a mild abrasive does is remove the hard work.. one dosnt go at it like a bull at a gate.. its bloody obvious too much will remove lacquer and paint..

most polishes and lot of cleaners are mildly abrasive.. brasso being a good example.. good for removing stubborn marks as well..

my caravan has no black marks or paint damage to it.. but then again i do know how to remove them and with minimum effort.. he he

rub away folks and enjoy..

trog

ps.. it could have been worse i did think of suggesting a mild bleach solution for stubborn marks.. that would have really produced some shock and horror.. he he he

I always find with my van that if I give it a good polish at the beginning of the season the black maarks just wipe away the rest of the year.

Caravan & Motorhome cleaner by AutoGlym or caravan Muc Off. Both do a great job followed by a coat of Auto Glym Super resin Polish and they are banished for the season. New ones simply wipe away.
