I mixed the ABS paste in a glass jam jar just enough acetone to cover the bits of ABS put lid on & leave over night. If it's too thick just add a little more acetone & stir.

Kev.

What sort of consistnecy should it be before application to the cracked area? Like a paste I presume?

I further presume that out in the open air the acetone evaporates and thus the 'melted' plastic turns back into hard plastic?

Regards
Jon

If you can get it to look like treacle you can dribble it into the crack easier with a match or something. I put a bit of blue tack at the bottom to stop it running down the van, it does go off quick but takes a few hours or next day before you can sand it down.

Done the job today, my word it 'goes off' quickly once you take it out of the jar! Seems to have done the job though. I've not made a great job it but I will gently rub/abrade the excess away when I have time.

The crack appears to have come from the screw hole underneath the rail. Hopefully, job done.

Thanks for the advice!

It's real messy stuff & difficult to make a neat job of main thing is it joins crack together again. A bit of sanding will soon clean it up. 😀

Just a thought if after cleaning up it still looks a bit messy you could get a couple of red reflectors & stick one over it & same on opposite side to match it up , stick on with a polyurethane adhesive & it will make sure it's not going to leek.
