The most likely thing is a blown fuse somewhere. They often hide an inline main fuse somewhere, generally near the battery box. Another possibility is a dodgy earth connection on the 12 volt side. I would definitely start where the wires come into the caravan from the battery box and work back from there. Get hold of a cheap multimeter if you don't already have one.
The running lights are on a completely different system which works from the car's electrics, so you will always have brake lights, indicators etc even if nothing works inside.
I'm guessing that the internal lights that work are mains-powered. My last caravan had a mixture of 12 volt and mains lights, whereas the one I have now all the internal lights are 12 volt.
The lights that are working now, and the 240volt mains sockets will only work when you are plugged into a mains electricity supply, such as at home, or on a site.
