Hi again

Perhaps I should re-phrase the question to

"How is it regulated?"

My understanding is that the "Approved Workshop Scheme" is overseen by Jones Venning for the N.C.C. and that there are no actual written standards for training, just vague things like staff working towards competence. In fact the training aspect was a short paragraph in an otherwise lengthy document.

I must admit I haven't checked recently but when challenged a couple of years ago about how often (% wise) the work carried out by workshops is checked the reply from Jones Venning was "Never, we are not competent to check it".

I'm glad that many Mobile Workshop personnel are proud of the work they do and carry out a good job but  I don't see how being N.C.C. approved is going to prevent rogues re-using one shot nuts etc. A rogue is a rogue.

I've seen posts where caravanners have sung the praises of a mobile fitter, how quick he was and cheaper, didn't need to remove the wheels even.

I doubt he was N.C.C. approved but my point is unless the system is properly regulated and checked what degree of confidence should we have?

I take back what I said.

I've just had a look at the N.C.C. site - No mention of Jones-Venning and the Jones-Venning website seems to have disappeared.

So, "Are things looking up?"

Have started a new thread, hopefully it could be made into a sticky.

But here is the new link from the NCC website for the Approved Workshop Scheme:
