I've just found this thread & I feel so worried for you. You'd think that by spending that kind of money you'd get a decent caravan.  I suppose if you were to sell it on you could provide the buyer with the bills to prove that you've had the work done, but having spent even more for repairs it would be good if you get some use out of it.

Keep us up to date,

lovely repair company have said that they filled with plastic filler rubbed down then painted and this normally holds so they will plastic weld then take for a run then if ok paint so fingers crossed i think we will see how we go the next couple of month in it and then sell for the autum and start again next yr . There work is garenteed for a yr so she said to bring back for a damp check before we sell . She did say that if we had a damp check now although the work has just been done that it will have slight damp reading because of the extent of damage

we cant say fairer than that they have been so good

I wonder why it would still have a damp reading if all the damp bits have been taken out and replaced though?, and didn't you say it still smells damp on the other thread?.

Not that I'm any expert of course , but I dont see why it should still register damp, and still smell of damp if all the damp bits have been removed and replaced with dry bits .

yes i asked that also but they have said that the smell is because it has been disterbed and that when they started taking out the wallbords it was stinking.I dont know why it will still smell for a few wk they have said

Then they have said that there will only be very slight readings of damp for a month but i cant understand this either but at least they have said we can have a damp check before we part ex it or sell on

its all strange but i do believe them they have been so good , am a bit annoyed they didnt plastic weld the crack to start with and we have to take it back but to be honest that seems to be the way things go for us lol

The damp reading will be residual. It's normal I'm told to have up to 15% even in a van with no problems. Wood/fibre is a natural material so retains a certain amount of moisture naturally from having lived and also from the atmospheric moisture levels.

It should dry out rapidly once the leaks are fixed, so that's good news. And as they say the smell will fade with time, let free air flow as much as you can to speed things up.

I do hope you start to like your van again, you are it's saviours...and I know it's hard as you have had such rotten luck, but you do know what you have now, the good the bad and the ugly. That's how I feel about my van, its not perfect and has its problems, but like a used car once you get to grips with it you get reluctant to change as you just don't know what you might be getting into and live to regret it.

we had a lovely holiday , the crack opened back up o we had to cut it short and come home wed because of the rain and it was leaking in and we have paid too much to have the new boards. Its a shame we couldnt get our money back from the campsite as it was springbank wk and we were having a lovely time

we have just picked the van up its been filled again and looks good . Ian has cleaned it extra good tonight with a toothbrush lol and we have decided that instead of changing it we are going to sell the huge isabella penta awning and get a new littler one and have all the van reupholstered and new carpet and keep it.

we have to think of her new name for it rather than the thing lol
