Hi,

bought an old caravan last year (mid eighties). Anyway, went out in it once and it has since been languishing in a field.     Went down today to find indicator on one side didn't work.   Tried my towbar electrics on another van - all fine.    Took covers off the light panels at the back of caravan and they are absolutely revolting !   Mildew, spiders, dirt etc etc.    Just wondered the best way to clean them up including making sure that the connections between circuit and bulbs are clean.

Any advice greatfully received !

First try cleaning all the pins in the caravan's plug - use emery cloth or one of those fibreglass abrasive pens.  That might sort the circuit. 

Clean the light lenses with warm water and washing up liquid - an old toothbrush is useful to get into nooks and crannies.  As with the plug, use emery cloth or a similar abrasive to clean up the bases of the bulbs, and the contacts in the light units.
