I have recently acquired a 2003 Bailey Ranger 500/5, which will spend most of its time in Southern France, where the temperature can make conventional oven cooking very uncomfortable.

Has anybody installed a fixed microwave oven in such a caravan, or have any bright ideas about if/how it can be done?

Alternatively, any suggestions for stowing such a bulky item so that it is safe on tow and not permanently in the way when on site.

Unfortunately Bailey do not show a pic of the 500/5 in the brochure and the floor plan would seem to show not many suitable (if any) cupboards.

My friend grew tired of lifting the microwave out on every trip and so we installed it in the bottom of the wardrobe (his choice)in his Pageant Bordeaux

The floor was reinforced and a shelf fitted over the microwave with a Carver Junior  blower being used as an extract system.

He finds this works OK and the extract stops the clothes smelling of food!!

I installed one under the fixed bed with a drop down door in our Ace Statesman and the exhaust from the microwave was ducted out through the floor using heater piping

That worked OK but it meant kneeling down to get the food out which I find preferable to the high mounted above head height option in many vans

Hope that helps
