Just boughtan NR Nova trailer tent off ebay. Pretty pleased with it except when I was putting it up tonightI noticed that the Awning Zip is broken. When I say the Awning it's actually the zip on the tent itself that the awning zips onto. So 2 questions. 1 - Is this possible to repair? 2- Is there anywhere in Ayrshire or West Central Scotland that you guys can recommend for a good and hopefully cheap repair? Thanks.
When we had a bit of damage to our canvas we were referred to Scottish Mountain Gear in Musselburgh for repair and they did a splendid job. These are the only folks I know about. Hope you are successful.
used scottish mountain gear to have my awning extended. Turned the job around very quickly and did a first class alteration. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again
Hi Andy, I have just the very person you are looking for!a company in Ardrossan by the name of Jess sail I have used them on several occasions both for main zip replacement and also for major reapairs/alterations, found them to be first class! Trhe teleephone number is 01294 467311.
Thanks for the info. I've given them a call and they would be able to do the repair so that saves me a trip to Musselburgh. I now need to work out how to get the canvas off the trailer (and more importantly back on again) - anyone had experience of removing a canvas from an NR Nova and can share any tips?
Dont know about your NR Nova Andy but I did take the canvas off of a Pennine Cruiser folding camper I once owned for reapir at Jess sail, it came off pretty easily after removing a few screws from the bed supports and taking off poles etc, so I reckon a TT will be even easier to de-canvas. Whatever you do you will find it much easier if there are two of you to handle that amount of canvas, best of luck Andy and happy camping.
P.S. you might find that you have to replace the zips on both the awning and the main canvas as the chances of the repairer having a zip to suit will be quite remote.

Good to know. Might work for repairing our torn cotton Vango tent.
The business is listed as a “sail maker” - no surprise, given how many yachts there are moored up the Clyde coast from Girvan to Inverkip.
As well is two words!
