I need to replace the A frame over-run damper on my Compass Rally, my local dealer has quoted me 60 quid to supply a new one! I find this hard to beleive as a PAIR of new dampers for quite a few modern cars would probably cost half of that. Anyone got any idea where I could source a damper at a realistic price?

Check out this site prices depend on your coupling and the weight of your van

Incidentally these dampers are not the same as standard car dampers although they look the same or similar

Thanks for the info Pie Face and Mudlark I have e-mailed both of these company's but so far not had a reply from them, I even phoned one of them who promised to get right back to me but again............nadah!

so, can anyone else please suggest where I might be able to get hold of a damper?

I should add that I went back to my local dealer prepared to pay his ransome price only to find out that he did not have the proper damper in stock and that he could not even order the proper one for me.

Try a caravan breakers to see if you can get a replacement hitch theyre about 20 pounds.

Well I had to bight the bullet and fit a replacement damper......£55.85!......at least it was a dawdle to fit!

Simplicity itself dexyblue, take out rear circlip, remove pin, unbolt front fixing bolt and remove damper!, fitting is just the reverse, but you do have to force the new damper back in order to get the front fixing bolt in.
