Yipee
Just collected new caravan - Bailey Senator Arizona (2006) from dealer. Lovely van but dealer only had one key for the "high security" door lock. The dealer is not a Bailey agent. Handbook says that if all keys lost the lock has to be replaced. The key has a cylindrical barrel, don't know proper name.

Is it possible to get these copied?

No key number just the name "WAD" on plastic top.

Tim

Hi, If I were you, I'd be banging on the sellers door insisting that they obtain for you, (the buyer) another key!!. I've no idea how much you paid for your new van, but customer service is essential for these people to stay in business, bad recommendations can do businesses a lot of harm. Adverse publicity especially on the Internet can cause serious problems for companys these days, NAME THEM AND SHAME THEM, they can have NO comeback through the courts if your facts are true and correct.

Power to the people!!!!!!

Regards, Norman, Flandersfields.

Out of interest I've been searching in the UK for key cutters who cut these high security keys and there seem to be a few. I'm sure if you call a couple of them or even go into your local place that cuts keys, they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Tim,

You should be able to get spare keys from the dealer or online here, just give em a call or buy twp keys and a new lock barrel for £7.00.  The barrel is easy to change.

TRy yellow pages for a local lock smith. You should get keys cut for a few pounds. I've had locksmiths cut a key for a lock whithout a key in the past, just given them the barrel. A new lock barrel and keys is only about £30. Although if you lock the van up and lose the keys, the damage done getting in could add up to a lot more than that.

Hi Tim and Cary,

I refer to my first posting.............Get on to the person who sold you your Bailey and give them some serious earache!!!!!!!!. I notice you are having problems with a lock also, GET ON TO THEM. You should not have to spend anything more buying new keys or new barrels and keys, when the dealer has taken possibly and probably taken a shedload of money off you and are now giving you feeble excuses. ( Known in the trade as "Fobbing Off").

When you ring them, drop into the conversation that you met a person on your last weekend away who has a relative who works on the BBC "Watchdog" programme.

It works!!!!! Don't give in, you paid good money for your 'van, expect good service.

Power to the people.

Regards to all, Norman.

Thanks for all those suggestions folks

I have contacted dealer and I am awaiting the promised replacement key.

Whilst away last week "testing" the new van I found another problem with the lock.  The plastic catch on the door frame, with which the lock engages, is only screwed into the gap between the metal frame and the caravan side wall.  The screws, partly hidden by rubber seal, easily pull out - so much for high security lock!!!!!

Should the screws actually have been put through the metal door frame??

Should the gap between the wall and frame be non-existent?  I did try undoing the clamps that hold frame to the door to see if I could pull them closer together but without any success.

I can obvioulsy take the 'van back  to the dealer but as it is would involve a 60 mile round trip to take it and another to collect it at their inconvenient hours it might be quicker to fix myself.

I'd be grateful for information on where the screws SHOULD be fixed from any Bailey owners out there!

Thanks

Tim

Thanks Everyone.

I took the 'van back to Campbell's Service Centre this morning this morning.  Door catch re-fixed whilst I waited along with a few other bits and pieces.

They, also, provided me with a new high security lock as they had only been able to provide me with one key.  I had to fit it myself as they did not have one at the service centre only at their shop a couple of miles away.  I now have 4 shiny new keys to fit my security lock with a secure catch, too!!

All sorted now and ready to go back into storage tomorrow

Thanks again
Tim
