hi ,when ever i have tryed to use fridge when towing it does not work on 12v and runs battery flat on car when grey plug is used anyone got any ideas my caravan is 2005 challenger

Sounds almost certain that you have a fault somewhere.  Possibly with the relay that that should stop this happening.

However, I never run the fridge en route from the car, mainly because it is such a heavy load on the car electrics.

What I do is plug the EHU into my house electrics overnight before we go, chill the fridge right down, then put some of those blue freezer gel things in the fridge before we set off.  This, I have always found more then adequate till we get on site.

I would get your car electrics checked out as a first step, sounds like something is wrong.

Do you mean if you park with the car electrics connected & fridge on-the car battery goes flat?--the fault must be with the car---power should only be supplied to the fridge when the engine is actually running--get a volt meter & check the fridge supply pole on the grey car socket--engine on-power. engine off- no power

How old is your car?  The wiring changed slightly in 1998/9.

Also , check the habitation relay in your caravan.
