Our old fridge has died.

Now a replacement three way fridge is around 250 quid. We only ever use an EHU when we go away. We never use gas or 12v to run the fridge.

Comet do a small fridge, for around 60 quid, that is the exact same size as our old one. Does anyone know if an ordinary domestic fridge will be ok in a caravan?

What I mean is will it be alright with all that bouncing around when travelling?

We wont have it on when travelling, just when we have pitched.

Don't think an ordinary fridge would take kindly to the travelling - it would probably shake the coolant up too much.  And the compressor in an ordinary fridge would get pretty annoying, both to you and your neighbours, especially at night.  Camping fridges work a different way to cool and don't have compressors, so run completely silently.

I have used a small domestic fridge in a Motorhome: Never experienced any problems at all - just make sure that you keep the receipt for your purchase.

I fully agree with "LobeyDosser" about 12vDC compresser fridges: They are fantastic and so is the price  They are quiet enough to leave on all night. The noise is not intrusive. Just wish that they were not so expensive
