hello i just removed my front marker lights has they were not working .only to find a brown wire on the lefthand side one with a white wire loose behind with no attachments.and a black wire on the right hand side. can any body tell which wire does what please
Brown & black should be the power feeds to each lamp, and white should be the ground. Unless using LED lamps it makes no difference which way round the black/white & brown/white go
the white should be the earth, if its not connected, the buld is only working through the earth(body) of the van, so not properly connected, the black is the 12V feed,
I think what is meant by the above is there should be either a black or a brown, and a white, depending on which side of the van its on.
you should find the marker on the other corner is brown/white, compare the two to find just where the white is supposed to connect.
No, there should be black one side, brown the other and white both. having a white one side implies to me that the van body is not being used as the ground and there should be a white both sides

thats what i was trying to say, just very badly!! I was getting confuesed with explaining the sides of the van, as apposed to the sides of the light!
If the front of the van is GRP, then the body will not be grounded because GRP is non-conductive. Unless the marker lights are fitted to the aluminium side panels.
you two are a realy a good laugh, enjoyed the topic. i did the same job last week.got every thing working after blowing a couple of fuse,s i wished i had come across you two first.lol.
