Hi,

A question on behalf of my dad. He has a Belling 4500 Oven in his caravan which I believe is about 10 years old. The oven lights but when turning the control knob the gas does not flame up so therefore the oven does not get up to temperature. He has contacted Belling who say they no longer do spares for this model.

Is there anyone out there who has had / having a similar problem who has managed to track down a thermostat / gas valve assembly?

The oven should light on full flame regardless of the valves setting, only when the temperature comes up to that set will the thermostat reduce the flame to maintain the oven at that temperature. If the thermostat was faulty it would not be able to shut the flame down, until the set temperature is reached the thermostat can have no effect on the flame unless that is, it's been on for a while and you turn the set temperature down.

If the flame is lighting but at what appears to be a low setting, then I would first suspect the jet is partially blocked this could be the jet itself or I've known the pipe leading to the jet to be partially blocked.
