After a weekend away a few weeks ago, I discovered our awning has bit all over that leak. when having trouble on site erecting the awning  and a nice chap came over and used washing up liquid on the rail (did work though) I know now that that's a strict no no ....bit late though .

Someone has said that now washing up liquid is on the awning , it is impossible to remove and thus will also be a barrier against re-proofing. Not having any idea but since its usually able to rinse off. would you think laying the awning on the ground and getting a hose on it would be a good idea????? obviously I would then re-proof the awning  once dry

what would be a good re-proof liquid ???

I have seen this stuff ..any good? and what one (or combinations..cleaner etc) ?

also would it be better with the awning erected or on the ground flat?

thanks

hi i used fenwicks www.fenwicks.info  cleaner and reproofer.i did it on a sunny day while the awning was erected, hard work, used a washing up brush to scrub it clean with the cleaner, then swilled with clean water.added the reproofer.its been good so far after a week of constant rain day and night at keswick and no leaks.another good way is to put up a large screw x 2 at 6 foot high about 7 foot wide on a wall of the house and hang the panels from it,this works well.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
