I am intending to fit a s/h Thetford Cassette toilet to the van, i have got the templates & downloaded the fitting instructions.

According to the instructions  i will need to cut four pieces of 25mm wood to make a frame to screw the door frame to, what i am not to sure about is where this wooden frame should go. should it go on the inside of the van, or between the inner & outer skin of the wall?

Any help appreciated

I'm pretty sure the wooden framework should go in between the outer skin and the wall board . This will mean you'll need to remove some of the polystyrene insulation to get the framework in place .

As wiz says it goes between the inner and outer skin, however check the thickness, I'd think it will be less than 25mm and probably 22mm or 7/8" in old money.

When removing the polystyrene it's a good idea to have someone standing over you with a hoover sucking away or you will have the stuff everywhere!!

A putty knife warmed in a blowtorch flame is useful for separating the polystyrene from the inner and outer skins.  Bear in mind that the removed panel is used the fill in the centre of the Thetford door so be careful with your cuts. (measure twice - cut once).

Hello, this is my first post so I hope someone can help me. I am going to help my daughter and her husband by fitting a second hand cassette toilet to their ABI Marauder.  Their caravan has never had a fixed toilet so they have bought a Thetford C2 from a caravan which has been broken up. 

I have downloaded the instructions from Thetford but am stuck for the three templates to cut out the panel in the wall.  I do not want to start the job without these templates.

Can anyone help with these three templates please?

I e mailed Thetford who needed to know which toilet & door i was fitting i stated that the door was their no.3 model but with the lock in the middle (current ones have the lock in the top corner), they sent the templates right away no charge, could not fault them BUT they were the wrong ones for my door, I don't know if they have altered the doors but my door & frame was about 2inches taller than the template they sent. In the end i just took a lot of measurements from the toilet & made an educated guess as to where the door should be, i wasn't too far off, the cassette rubs a little bit on the door frame when you remove it but i can put up with that!

Wizzard, thank you for all the help, i would love to send you the templates they come on great big sheets of paper & you have to cut them out, even cut out they are too big to scan & also very grubby now due to me fitting toilet this week in the rain, also i think that different toilet/door combinations have different templates. Maybe you could e mail Thetford for some 

My old ABI has had a right do up this week, she (we call her Lady Rose, sad i know!) thinks it's her birthday. I have fitted the toilet & fixed the delaminated floor, which led to new floor covering being fitted & tomorrow she is going to have a good clean inside & out ready for her next trip out.
